Scripture Cuttings:
Ezekiel 17:22-24 On the mountain height of Israel I will plant it, in order that it may produce boughs and bear fruit, and become a noble cedar.
Psalm 92:1-4, 12-15 They are planted in the house of the Lord; they flourish in the courts of our God.
2 Corinthians 5:6-10 [11-13] 14-17 So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!
Mark 4:26-34 With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable will we use for it? It is like a mustard seed….

All may make the sign of the cross in remembrance of baptism
as the presiding minister begins:
P:  In the Name of the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen

P:  All of us must appear before the judgment seat of Christ.
C: Lord have mercy (pause for self-examination)
P:  Christ have mercy…
C: Lord have mercy
we love your kingdom Lord
it is such a lovely thought,
giving us hope when we are in distress
and high expectation in our prosperity.
So we should be fruitful
when you plant your promise in our world.
But we resist the change in your transforming work.
Prefering our productivity to your kingdom.
You desire to make us florish in your faithfulness
still we choose self-reliance over a faithful life,
    and select security over trust.
Help us see your new creation in us as you bring in your kingdom.
Some sins we understand enough to name; forgive us Lord.
Some sins we hide; save us Lord. (pause for self-examination)
P:  The mystery is revealed! We are new creations in Jesus Christ. For Christ has died and he is risen, our sins are forgiven. For the love of Christ we are urged on: in him we no longer live to ourselves but to all. To the glory of the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen. -wjw

P:  The peace of the Lord be with you always!

C: And also with you!
