Scripture Cuttings:
Acts 16:9-15 When [Paul] had seen the vision, we immediately tried to cross over to Macedonia, being convinced that God had called us to proclaim the good news to them.
Psalm 67 May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us....
Revelation 21:10,22-22:5 I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb.
John 14:23-29 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.
-or-
John 5:1-9 When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”
Confession:
All may make the sign of the cross in remembrance of baptism
as the presiding minister begins:
P: In the Name of the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen
P: Heavenly Father- help us to know ourselves as you see us.
(pause for earnest self-examination)
P: Oh Lord...
C: we ignore your calling to proclaim,
we are afraid of people different from us.
You have sent us out to make disciples,
yet our own discipleship stops short,
without learning, without teaching, without leading.
We are afraid to step out
we don't want to fail.
We are unwilling to talk with a hundred,
for you to find the one or two chosen.
Forgive us the sins we confess
Save us from what we withhold. (Pause for reflection)
P: Jesus Christ has died for our sins. We are forgiven. Because he rises from the dead we are strengthened in his glory so we may rise from our sins and walk in the calling of God. All to glory of the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen. -wjw
P: Christ is risen!
C: He is risen indeed! Alleluia!
P: The peace of the Lord be with you always!
C: And also with you!
