P:  In the Name of the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen

P:  We do not follow the Lord's instructions, let us confess our sin.
    (pause for self-examination)
P:  Lord God...
C: we are prosperous beyond anyone's imagination,
  except our imagination.
We would rather be fed and comfortable,
than committed in service to you.
we seek the junk food that perishes,
not the spiritual food that endures for eternal life.
We even think we can achieve purity through personal virtue.
Forgive us for the sins we can name,
Save us from the sins we hide. (Pause for reflection)
P:  Our God loves us so much as to put before us the very spiritual food that endures for eternal life. It is Jesus Christ, God's only Son our Lord. For Christ's sake our sins are forgiven. In the power of the Holy Spirit we may lead a life worthy of the calling to which we have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing one another in love. To the Glory of God the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen. -wjw

P:  The peace of the Lord be with you always!

C: And also with you!

Previously:
Sunday Title:  Fed Sunday
Sermon Title: What are the leftovers of our spiritual meal?
Sunday Title:  Passover Sunday
Sermon Title: “Hunger”
Sunday Title:  Imagination Sunday
Sermon Title: "Offerings & First Fruits"
Sunday Title:  John 6 Sunday- Part 1,
Sermon Title: "Bread and Body - Part 1 - The Approach - Faith"

Scripture Cuttings:
2 Kings 4:42-44 A man came from Baal-shalishah, bringing food from the first fruits to the man of God: twenty loaves of barley and fresh ears of grain in his sack.
Psalm 145:10-18 The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food in due season. You open your hand, satisfying the desire of every living thing.
Ephesians 3:14-21 I pray that you may have the power to comprehend... the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge... who by the power at work within us... is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine.
John 6:1-21 There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish. But what are they among so many people?... Then Jesus took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated; so also the fish, as much as they wanted.

All may make the sign of the cross in remembrance of baptism
as the presiding minister begins:
P:  In the Name of the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen

P:  Let us deal honestly with God, our God, who comes to be with us. (pause to invite God to center our awareness)
P:  Lord...
C: you promise you will provide,
again and again in the scriptures.
You do provide, again and again in our lives.
  Still we look to hoard
    a super abundance
      through our own means,
and so do not trust you with our first fruits.
We always want enough to have left overs,
but then our left overs are not good enough,
so we give them as offerings to you.
We quantify what we can and can not do,
with our knowledge of what we do and do not have.
We use fear instead of faith to make our decisions,
fooling ourselves about what is possible in your sight.
Forgive us for the sins we can name,
save us from the sins we hide. (pause for reflection)
P:  It is for the glory of God that we should know the love of Christ. That Jesus himself, the Son of God, is given up for our sake for the forgiveness of our sins. Our sin are forgiven. And according to the riches of our Heavenly Father's glory we may be strengthened in our inner being with the power of the Holy Spirit. It is Christ who may dwell in our hearts and we may be rooted and grounded in love and faith. To the Glory of the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen. -wjw

P:  The peace of the Lord be with you always!

C: And also with you!

All may make the sign of the cross in remembrance of baptism
as the presiding minister begins:
P:  In the Name of the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen

P:  We have lost sight of our hope,
we are aliens from the faithful people of God.
(pause for reflection: in this world, the faithful people are the strangers)
P:  Lord...
C: you give us gifts to lead your people,
in our families, among peers, at work, or in the church,
but we fail to attend to the matters of leading.
we forfeit justice and righteousness for our comfort,
we withhold mercy for self interest.
We speak as leaders and live as a bad examples.
We claim fatigue, or inexperience, or lack of resource,
when your sheep are scattered, hungry, lonely,
and in need of what you give us abundantly.
Forgive us for the sins we can name,
save us from the sins we hide. (pause for self-examination)
P:  We who once were scattered and far off, now are brought near by the blood of Jesus Christ. God will find us, the lost, and raise us up as leaders. For Christ's sake our sins are forgiven. For the purpose of salvation we are made members of the household of God. By the power of the Holy Spirit we may all come together as one holy temple in the Lord. To the glory of the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen. -wjw

P:  The peace of the Lord be with you always!

C: And also with you!
