2 Kings 4:42-44 A man came from Baal-shalishah, bringing food from the first fruits to the man of God: twenty loaves of barley and fresh ears of grain in his sack.

John 6:1-21 There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish. But what are they among so many people?... Then Jesus took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated; so also the fish, as much as they wanted.

P:  In the Name of the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.

P:  Let us deal honestly with God, our God, who comes to be with us. (pause to invite God to center our awareness)

P:  Lord...

C: you promise you will provide,

  again and again in the scriptures.

You do provide, again and again in our lives.

  Still we look to hoard

    a super abundance

      through our own means,

        and so do not trust you with our first fruits.

We always want enough to have left overs,

  but then our left overs are not good enough,

    so we give them as offerings to you.

We quantify what we can and can not do,

  with our knowledge of what we do and do not have.

We use fear instead of faith to make our decisions,

  fooling ourselves about what is possible in your sight.

Forgive us for the sins we can name,

  save us from the sins we hide. (pause for reflection)

P:  It is for the glory of God that we should know the love of Christ. That Jesus himself, the Son of God, is given up for our sake for the forgiveness of our sins. Our sin are forgiven. And according to the riches of our Heavenly Father's glory we may be strengthened in our inner being with the power of the Holy Spirit. It is Christ who may dwell in our hearts and we may be rooted and grounded in love and faith. To the Glory of the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
