Scripture Cuttings:
Deuteronomy 30:9-14 Surely, this commandment that I am commanding you today is not too hard for you, nor is it too far away.... No, the word is very near to you; it is in your mouth and in your heart for you to observe.
Psalm 25:1-10 Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth, and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation
Colossians 1:1-14 Just as it is bearing fruit and growing in the whole world, so it has been bearing fruit among yourselves from the day you heard it and truly comprehended the grace of God.
Luke 10:25-37 Just then a lawyer stood up to test Jesus

Confession:
P:  In the Name of the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen
P:  Let us take this time to be honest with God. (pause)
  Our creator God,
C: You make us complete and give all we need.
Into our mouths and hearts you put your word;
yet we do not turn to you
not with all our heart, soul, strength and mind.
You set us into believing communities
  where we see faithful examples,
still we are slow to extend faith to our neighbors.
You deliver us from our transgressions;
but when we see a need
we are too willing to turn our heads away
and pass by on the other side.
Show us your ways.
Forgive us Lord, the sins we know in our heart.
Save us Lord from the sins we hide. (pause for reflection and self-examination)

P:  For all these Lord we are deeply sorry.
C: Amen

P:  God is gracious and upright, and remembers us in goodness and love. God sends God’s son so we may know divine compassion. Because of Jesus Christ our sins are forgiven. We can be put back on the path of the righteous, and grow in the knowledge of God. Thanks be to God!  In the name of the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen -wjw
P:  The peace of the Lord be with you always!
C: And also with you!

-or-
P:  In the Name of the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen
P:  Surely the command to be loyal is not too hard for us.
Let us repent from our unfaithfulness. (pause for self-examination)
P:  Lord God Almighty...
C: we consider you to be too far away,
too great to give us what we ask,
    too righteous to love us,
      too perfect to use us.
We don't consider the nearness of your word,
we do not speak it with our mouth,
we do not write it in our hearts,
we do not observe it in our actions.
We are your people,
  but prosperity leads us astray,
    we craft our own rightness.
When we confess our sin, Lord forgive us.
When we conceal our sin, Lord save us.
   (Pause for reflection)
P:  We hear of the hope in the word of truth in Jesus Christ. It is for Christ's sake that our sins are forgiven. Through the Holy Spirit, this gospel bears fruit and is growing in the whole world, and bears fruit and grows in our lives today. All to the glory of the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen. -wjw

P:  The peace of the Lord be with you always!
C: And also with you!
