Psalm 98 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises.
2 Thessalonians 3:6-13 Brothers and sisters, do not be weary in doing what is right.
Luke 21:5-19 Beware that you are not led astray; for many will come in my name and say, ‘I am he!’ and, ‘The time is near!’ Do not go after them.

Confession:
All may make the sign of the cross in remembrance of baptism
as the presiding minister begins:
P:  In the Name of the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen
P:  Let us take a moment to be honest with God...
    (pause for self-examination)
P:  Lord you really do know us...
C: how we yearn for your righteous judgment,
  against all those evildoers in our wicked world;
yet we never considering ourselves in the mix.
How poor we are at seeing our own sin,
especially when we live in such an immoral society
    and there are so many others to point or fingers at;
so we fail to see how we participate.
We the faithful; would stand with you through the end,
we won’t stand for you here in the present.
We soil our Christian witness with indifference,
    arrogance, intemperance,
as well as gossip, negativity, idleness,
        and self generated rightness.
Lord forgive these sins recognized and named.
Lord save us from the sins still undercover. (Pause for reflection)

P:  Jesus Christ will come again to judge the living and the dead. God’s Son, who died for our sins is the source off any and all of our righteousness. It is for Christ's sake our sins are forgiven. Forgiven now and in the time at the end. Between this moment and then we are restored to right relationship to be lived in faith, for the glory of the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen. -wjw

P:  The peace of the Lord be with you always!
C: And also with you!

All may make the sign of the cross in remembrance of baptism
as the presiding minister begins:
P:  In the Name of the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen

P:  The Judge of the world is coming! Let us be honest with God. (pause)
  God of  our salvation..
C: We take pride in the impressive things we have accomplished.
Beautiful buildings and gifts dedicated to you.
Yet we do not dedicate our lives daily.
We walk by, avoid, and ignore opportunities to testify,
  in actions and words.
Our faithfulness does not stand one stone upon another.
With confidence in our convictions
we do not hunger for your redemption,
instead we live in idleness, led astray by satisfaction,
and become arrogant in our religion.
Forgive us Lord for the sins we know in our heart.
Save us Lord from the sins we hide. (pause for reflection and self-examination)
P:  Lord help us to listen to you...
C: and trust in your ways. Amen

P:  God’s will is to bring all to righteousness. The Son of righteousness is risen and for Christ's sake our sins are forgiven. Given the redemption bestowed upon us we may revere his name, in this time and the age to come, when he judges the living and the dead. This to the glory of the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen. -wjw

P:  The peace of the Lord be with you always!
C: And also with you!
