Sunday Title:  Resurrection of Our Lord
Sermon Title: Friendly Fear”

Jeremiah 31:1-6 I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you. Again I will build you, and you shall be built,
Psalm 118:1-2, 13-24 I was pushed back and about to fall,  but the Lord helped me. The Lord is my strength and my song;    he has become my salvation.
Colossians 3:1-4 So if you have been raised with Christ,
seek the things that are above, where Christ is….
Matthew 28:1-10 …as the first day of the week was dawning…. …suddenly there was a great earthquake;
for an angel of the Lord, descending from heaven, came and rolled back the stone and sat on it.

All may make the sign of the cross in remembrance of baptism
as the presiding minister begins:
P:  In the Name of the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen

P:  There is Good News here today,
but we need to be honest with God
to understand what it means for us.
(pause for reflection: honest- without our disguise)
  Lord God...
C: we are not like the first witnesses of the Resurrection.
We have not allowed You in the true center of our lives.
Unlike the women going to the tomb early in the morning,
we become discourage by large obstacles.
We do not trust you to roll away the stones,
that keep us from bringing your Good News to all people.
In fact, we can even let early mornings
deter us from being willing servants of Jesus.
Lord we are disconnected
and not ready for your Glory.
Forgive us Lord for the sins we know,
save from the sins we hide. (pause for reflection and self-examination)
P:  There is Good News this morning, because we do not own a single fear, or doubt, or hesitation, the Lord our God does not overcome. It is by God’s own faithfulness that Jesus Christ died for our sins and that he was buried and that he was raised on the third day. For Christ's sake our sins are forgiven. By the power of the Holy Spirit we too are to become witnesses- apostles to proclaim the Resurrection of our Lord so that all may believe. To the Glory of the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen. -wjw

P:  The peace of the Lord be with you always!
C: And also with you!
