Psalm 145:8-9, 14-21 You open your hand, satisfying the desire of every living thing.
Romans 9:1-5 They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises; to them belong the patriarchs, and from them, according to the flesh, comes the Messiah, who is over all, God blessed forever. Amen.
Matthew 14:13-21 When [Jesus] went ashore, he saw a great crowd; and he had compassion for them and cured their sick. When it was evening, the disciples came to him….

Confession:
All may make the sign of the cross in remembrance of baptism
as the presiding minister begins:
P:  In the Name of the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen

P:  Let us be honest with God. (pause)
  O Holy One...
C: how we distract ourselves from you.
You provide our daily bread,
but we spend our money on things that do not feed us.
You call us to listen to your lessons of life,
but we make our labor and effort for ourselves,
    for our affluence.
We do not trust you in our prosperity,
  or in our hunger.
Lord forgive the sins we know in our hearts.
Save us Lord from the sins we hide.
    (pause for reflection and self-examination)
P:  The Lord is gracious and full of compassion. God has sends Jesus Christ, God's only Son to bring us back into right relationship. When we are repentant we can see again God's invitation to feast at the table of righteousness. Through the Holy Spirit we may speak and live the truth in Christ as God's Holy People. In the name of the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen. -wjw

P:  The peace of the Lord be with you always!

C: And also with you!
