Scripture
Cuttings:
Acts 8:26-40 So
Philip... heard him reading the prophet Isaiah. He asked, "Do you
understand what you are reading?" He replied, "How can I, unless
someone guides me?" And he invited Philip to get in and sit beside him.
Ezekiel 19:10-14 (2009) Your mother was like a vine in a vineyard transplanted
by the water, fruitful and full of branches from abundant water. Its strongest
stem became a ruler's scepter; it towered aloft among the thick boughs; it
stood out in its height with its mass of branches.
Psalm 22:25-31 ...future
generations will be told about the Lord, and proclaim his deliverance to a
people yet unborn, saying that the Lord has done it.
1 John 4:7-21 God
is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them.
John 15:1-8 I
am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear
much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing.
All may make the sign of the cross in
remembrance of baptism
as the presiding minister begins:
P: In the Name of the
Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen
P: God is love, let us
see where we fall short. (pause)
P: Saving Lord...
C: we find
your love in our lives,
but we are reluctant to share with our
brothers and sisters,
even to spread the Gospel.
The power of
the word lays open before us,
interpretation and understanding are
available,
still we do not want to grow in faith.
We feel
your love abides in us – inside ourselves,
yet we have no spirit of reconciliation or
trust.
so your love abides not in us;
not to our brother and sister nor into
this community.
Lord you
know what does abide in us.
Forgive us
for the sins we name,
save us
from the sins we hide. (pause for reflection and self-examination)
P: God is love, let us
see where we are raised. The Lord is risen!
C: He is
risen indeed! Alleluia!
P: Jesus Christ is the
atoning sacrifice for our sins. Our sins are forgiven. As we come to know God’s
love for us in this way, we testify to the love of God the Father. Our
testimony comes to the world as we love our brothers and sisters as we build
this faithful community. This love bears much fruit to the glory of God the Father,
and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen. -wjw
P: The peace of the
Lord be with you always!
C: And also
with you!
